Roberts named editor of digital news at NYT
The New York Times has named Jim Roberts to the new role of editor of digital news, overseeing the Web newsroom and the continuous news desk.
Fiona Spruill has been named editor of the Web newsroom and Neil Chase, formerly deputy editor for nytimes.com, will become editor of the continuous news desk. Both will report to Jim.
Jon Landman & Rich Meislin say, in a note to staff:
Together, they will create a new leadership structure aimed at increasing, improving and enriching our flow of news to the Web and at arming reporters, editors and producers with the best possible tools for their changing jobs. They will lead important experiments in conveying information and communicating with readers in ways that go beyond the old definitions of news and journalism.
