How to connect with your community
At the J-Lab Citizens Media Summit at the Online News Association conference, YourHub.com editor Travis Henry says the citizen media platform is now in about a dozen local markets.
We can turn on a site in very little time in a market, but if you don't put time or effort into it, it won't have the quality to be worth it. The key is you need to be connecting with the people in your community.
"You just can't turn on a site." He says you have to train people, you have to get out in the community and recruit people to contribute, and show them how to do it. You have to be "ambassadors" to the community.
"I'm driving to grandmothers' houses and teaching them how to post."
