Should bloggers report from Texas legislature floor?

Some legislators want bloggers to have the same right to report from the floor of the Texas House as professional journalists, while others say bloggers aren't "real journalists."

The discussion going on regarding the presence of bloggers in places that have been traditionally reserved for "established" journalists it extremely motivating. Those who see this as an attack on the journalistic profession are short-sighted and seem to me almost... pathetic? sad? desperate? arrogant? I'm not sure. I trully believe blogs harness the power of a real journalism no longer controlled by a few haughty, self-righteous individuals who believe they have a copyright on journalistic creation. Bloggers have earned their spot, in spades, in the new media landscape, and are fast becoming the one-stop destination for all things news.
