Why it's tough to make local work online
Building one local site successfully does not make it easier to build another elsewhere, says Business Week. "The virality that works nationally doesn't work locally," says BackFence.com's Mark Potts. And "the national echo chamber" that can spur massive growth on MySpace doesn't work for separate community sites.
