It's a darn shame. I lived in the area and had friends on the WWN staff. An amusing side note: Friends and families of Weekly World News employees used to be able to make a quick $50 by posing for a mug shot, and signing a release for its use in any way WWN saw fit. It was a nice stipend for two minutes' time, but the downside was you never knew what it would be used for. One month, your mugshot could be used as "world-class South Africa rhinoceros expert Klaus Hingebotha." The next, it could be Photoshopped onto some photo of a morbidly obese man and plopped under the headline, "World's Fattest Man Explodes!!!"

I have purchased it as entertainment off and on for over 20 years and was just talking about it with family and decided to subscribe only to find that it will not be around. This is a very bad thing as it is going from a real thing to just another forgetable web object.
