RIP for PDF

After little more than a year, the Toronto Star is giving up on its effort to revive the afternoon edition in the Internet age -- it published its last afternoon PDF edition on Wednesday. "Time moves on, technolgy advances and new, improved products replace old ones," Editor in Chief Fred Kuntz said. He said the Star plans to add more content to its mobile service, including sports scores and traffic reports.

Crikey - you got me excited there! I thought that the most loathsome, useless bit of elitism ever invented - the PDF - had been discovered with some fatal flaw and dumped forever!

But ... no ... you sensationalist you!
