Newspaper editorial board starts blogging

The editorial board of the Dallas Morning News in Texas has started a group Weblog, DMN Daily, “designed to allow board members to share their evolving thoughts on a variety of issues, and to allow readers a window into our opinion-development process.” This is a great idea. As Steve Outing points out, “Too often the reading public perceives newspaper editorials as written as part of a secretive process by anonymous editors. This will help make the newspaper’s editorials more ‘human,’ and the human writers of those editorials more accountable.”
