Wall St. Journal to Make Web Site Free, Murdoch says
Update: After reports Tuesday that Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of the News Corporation, says he expects to make access to The Wall Street Journal’s Web site free, a top Dow Jones executive told Editor and Publisher the comments were premature.

Ex-TVNewser blogger launches blog for New York Times
Brian Stelter, who was recently hired as a media reporter for The New York Times, will
be the lead contributor on a new Times blog, TV Decoder, which will cover "what's on, who's watching and why it matters -- it covers the day's on-screen and behind-the-scenes developments, with insights into Nielsen ratings and the machinations of the TV industry." Stelter created the TVNewser blog in 2004, which became a must-read among television network presidents, media executives, producers and publicists.

Marc Cooper joins OFFTHEBUS.NET
The Huffington Post and NewAssignment.Net today announced that Marc Cooper, a veteran political journalist and author, has joined OffTheBus.Net, their new joint venture in campaign journalism. Cooper will be editorial coordinator for OffTheBus.Net and will also serve as special correspondent for The Huffington Post.
OffTheBus is the collaboration between The Huffington Post, where Arianna Huffington is co-founder and editor-in-chief, and Jay Rosen's pilot project, NewAssignment.Net. OffTheBus launched in July as a network of campaign bloggers who have diverse views and beats, and other volunteers for "distributed" reporting projects that would be hard for a traditional news organization to undertake.

Star-Trib blogger takes buyout, will blog for Minnesota Monitor
Eric Black, author of The Big Question blog since 2005 for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, has accepted a buyout to leave the paper and will join the the Center for Independent Media, a Wasington-based non-profit that operates the Minnesota Monitor, the Colorado Confidential and the new Iowa Independent. Black will write a blog with the Minnesota Monitor.
