Salon founder steps down
February 9, 2005 · Filed Under Business Bytes
Salon founder David Talbot is stepping down as editor in chief and CEO, just as the company announces its first profitable quarter since it was launched in 1995. He will be replaced as editor by Joan Walsh, his deputy, and as CEO by Elizabeth Hambrecht, Salon’s president.
“I think the timing is right,” Talbot told The New York Times. “If the business was shaky, I would feel uncomfortable, but things are now stable and I think I am handing my baby off to two women I have complete trust in.”
