Times hired TVnewser blogger; estabilished journalists apply for his job

The New York Times has hired TVNewser blogger Brian Stelter, who rose to fame after he started the blog as a student at Towson University.

“So dedicated was Brian to his blog that he updated it – posting an item about NBC News – between interviews with Times editors in our building recently,” said his announcement letter.

Here’s an IM chat with Stelter about his decision and his thoughts on TV news and the internet.

* an executive producer at MSNBC
* a business reporter at a major business web site
* the blogger for TVNewsLies.org
