Tonight marked the first time in presidential campaign history that user-generated video drove a debate. Over 1700 video questions were submitted to YouTube for the first CNN/YouTube debate. CNN vetted the questions and selected which ones to ask the Democratic candidates Monday night.

“The debate kicked off with a series of questions from voters that moderator Anderson Cooper described as ‘not making the cut.’” CNN wrote. “They included a questioner dressed in a Viking outfit, a five-year-old posing a question about social security and a man in a chicken costume.”
