A few examples of how news sites are using Google Maps:
• The Lawrence Journal-World uses Google Maps to illustrate entertainmetn venue locations.
• The News & Observer is also using Google Maps to display live traffic data.
• The Times Herald-Record in Middletown, N.Y., is also using Google Maps to display gas prices.
But that’s only the beginning of what’s possible. Imagine a news site in which stories are geo-coded and displayed online on a map, so that users can find news stories near them geographically and zoom in or click for more info. Here’s a neat look at what a Google Maps-driven news site might look like, from Poynter’s Larry Larsen.
